Schooling continues

This dog-training thing has become almost a full-time job. I am continually having to give Sasha attitude adjustments, but little-by-little, I think she's beginning to catch on. At the rate she is growing, I hope I can get her completely trained before she's bigger than I am!

There's a dog in the house!

Last night my pawrents brought home a new addition to our family: a puppy! My kitty-siblings Lalo, Stanley, and Flaca are all quite miffed at the audacity, but I figure I'll give the kid a chance. I even let her share my bed for a few minutes today before I booted her out. I feel that it is important to teach her right from the start that we cats run things around here.

I understand Serbian!

My human brother Jesse and his fiancée Vesna spent a couple of days with us over the Thanksgiving holiday, and they brought Vesna's parents Ranko and Slavka with them. Vesna's parents are visiting from Serbia, and this is their first visit to the United States. My pawrents were wondering how we would communicate, because Ranko and Slavka don't speak English, and my Mommy and Daddy don't speak Serbian. But leave it to Lalo and me to bridge the language barrier. We got so much extra attention, and I understood every word: Vesna's parents were telling us how wonderful and beautiful we are! (We also learned that "Lalo" means "tulip" in Serbian! How funny is that?! I'm going to start calling my brofur Lalo "Tulip"! MOL!)

Will "beg" for treats

Mommy brought home some packets of Whiskas Temptations last week. I hate to demean myself by begging, but I have found that if I do this, I get more treats. The hoomans think it "looks cute". Silly hoomans. It's just a means to an end....A cat's gotta do what a cat's gotta do.

My interview

I was interviewed by my furiend Skeezix (http://www.catster.com/cats/320117) for his blog. Skeezix wanted to know all about my winning the "Craziest Tail" category of Catster's photo contest last year, as well as some other stuff about me. He even posted one of my videos! This makes me feel very impurrtant indeed!
Here is the link to my interview with Skeezix:

Dirt baths

Today my daddy carried me outside to meet a friend of his, but I broke away from him (scratching his tummy in the process....so sorry, Daddy!), and ran to the nearest patch of soil. Then I flopped over and rolled around and around! Daddy called Mommy outside to come and get me. When I saw mommy, I still kept rolling around, until I was completely covered with dirt. Mommy tried to use the Furminator on me when she brought me back inside, but it didn't take away much of the dirt. I am SO glad that Mommy didn't try to give me a B-A-T-H! (Why would I need a bath, anyway...I had already taken a dirt bath! Dirt baths are the BEST!)

Some of my mom's friends on Facebook have started a "Curly for President" campaign. Check out the video, MOL!

Purrlease vote for my video!

Mommy entered a video of me in a contest a few weeks back. You can vote in the contest once a week. You either click "thumbs up" or "thumbs down", but I sure hope my furiends here will vote me "thumbs UP" (even if you aren't polydactyl). You can also leave comments on the video if you wish. Here is the link:

What a nice surpurrise to return from my camping trip and find that so many fine cats from the Blogosphere had left messages for me! You are such kind and welcoming cats. I do hope to write back to each and efurry one of you, although it may take awhile due to incompetent staff {sigh!}
Ofurall, I did have fun on the camping trip although I could've done without being held prisoner in a cage on the way there and back, and having to deal with a couple of dogs at the fairgrounds. It was a good experience, but I'm glad to be home.

I'm going camping!

This Thursday, my hoomans are going to a bluegrass festival in Plymouth, CA. Pets are allowed at the festival, so they are taking my brother Lalo and me along! It will sure be a new adventure for me....but not so much for Lalo, as he went to a bluegrass campout last spring. I'm sure we'll get lots of attention. Mommy says I have to wear a harness the entire time but I don't think that will be such a bad deal. (I really look pretty good in my harness!)

Last night, Daddy looked at me and said to Mommy, "Curly's a cool cat. Thank you for bringing him into my life." I really AM the man! MOL!

My birthday

Yesterday was my 2nd birthday. Since I showed up here as a stray, there's no way of knowing for sure the true date of my birth, but based on how small I was the first time my human set eyes on me, she made a ballpark guess. It's probably close, although I myself don't know for sure. Anyway, I got to celebrate, which is all that really counts. Lots of rosettes on Catster, and some extra treats here in the real world.

For those of you who are curious about my special tail, here is a close-up photo. You can see how I got my name "Curly"!

Here's a Curly-fact: On May 10, 2008, I was in a cat show in Fresno, California. My female human isn't really big on cat shows, but she wanted to prove to my male human that I could win a ribbon, because he didn't believe it. Not to brag, but I won SIX blue ribbons (4 first-place and 2 second-place). So....Ha, ha, Daddy!

My first blog entry

From my humble beginnings as a stray, getting beaten in fights with other animals, braving the elements, having to beg a few scraps of food from strangers in order to survive...I have arrived at having my own blog! This is truly a mange-to-riches story! (Well, okay...I never had mange; It's just a figure of speech.) Rather than risk redundancy, I will refer the reader to my web page (http://www.catster.com/cats/652958), where they can start at the bottom of my diary entries and work their way up, to follow my odyssey. I would like to encourage all cats to write to me with their inspirational stories of heroism and survival in the face of great odds. Or write to me about catching rats. It's all good.
